Three ways to scan
🍽️
Full plate
The whole meal at once. Best for lunch and dinner when everything is on one plate.
🥗
Single item
One food on its own, like a snack or a protein source. Useful for meal prep weighing.
🏷️
Packaged label
Point at a nutrition label and the values are pulled straight off the panel.
How to get an accurate read
- Shoot from directly above. Side angles hide how much food is actually there.
- Put your hand, fork or the plate rim in frame so there is something to size things against.
- One layer only. Piled food hides items underneath.
- Good lighting beats a better camera. Hard shadows make colours unreliable.
- Sauces and oils are the biggest source of error. If it looks oily, adjust the amount by hand afterwards.
