Privacy Policy

Short version
We do not store your photos. We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising or tracking trackers. You can export or delete everything we hold about you at any time.
What we collect
Data you give us
- Account email — needed to sign you in and, if you subscribe, to send billing receipts.
- Log entries — the scans, meals, movement and notes you choose to save.
Data generated during a scan
When you scan, the image is processed in memory to produce the estimate. The image itself is not written to our storage and is discarded once processing completes. We do keep the resulting text output — the item names, estimated weights and nutrition numbers — but only if you choose to save it to your log.
Data collected automatically
- Usage counters — how many scans you have used today, and the day they were used. Required to enforce the daily plan limits.
- Server logs — IP address and request metadata, retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.
What we do not collect
- No health, medical or biometric information
- No date of birth, gender or ethnicity
- No advertising identifiers
- No third-party analytics or tracking pixels
If we ever need to collect health information to provide a feature, we will ask for explicit consent first and explain exactly what it is used for.
Who processes your data
Scans and recipe generation are performed by Google Gemini 2.5 Flash. Images and ingredient text are sent to that provider only to produce the result, under their published terms and data processing agreement. Your account and log data are stored with our hosting and database providers, each bound by contract and used only on our instructions.
Payments are handled entirely by our payment provider, who acts as the merchant of record. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and your email address; we never see or store your full card number.
How long we keep things
- Account and log data — until you delete your account
- Scan images — not stored at all
- Usage counters — up to 90 days
- Server logs — up to 30 days
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of your data
- Correct data that is wrong
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Object to processing or ask us to restrict it
- Receive your data in a portable format
Export as CSV and delete-account are both available directly in the app. For anything else, email support@plateparse.com and we will respond within 30 days.
International transfers
We are based outside the European Economic Area. Where your data is transferred outside the EEA or UK, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Security
Data is transmitted over TLS, stored encrypted at rest, and accessible only to the people who need it to operate the service. We rate-limit AI calls and validate every request server-side so the service cannot be abused.
Children
PlateParse is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page.
